My photography journey started in my late teens when I took up climbing, I longed to record the beautiful landscapes that unfolded before me, on my many visits over the years to Tongariro, Fiordland and Mt Cook National Parks.
In the 70's I started photographing concerts using Ilford HP5 rated at 1600 ASA and Agfachrome 50S rated at 1600ASA, processing and printing the HP5 myself.
In the Nikon v's Canon debate I sit firmly in the Nikon camp. I presently have a Nikon D750. Sigma Lenses, 24-105mm f4 DG Art, 120-400mm f4.5-5.6 DG APO HSM and 105mm f2.8 DG Macro HSM.
I have a passion for Black & White, searching out tones and textures to create great Black & White images, inspired by the great masters, Ansel Adams and Edward Weston.
Though my journey has been a long one, I am still learning, as new techniques evolve.
Along my journey I have met many wonderful people, with whom I have shared ideas and thoughts, and learned from. I am thankful to all those who have been part of my journey, and helped me develop my understanding of what the landscape is trying to say, to me, and developing my eye.
